Do Flight Attendants Have To Clean Vomit

How often do you deal with vomit?

Aspiring FA hither midway through the interview procedure with Delta, and my only qualm with this chore is that I have a crude time dealing with trunk fluids, peculiarly vomit. Fifty-fifty just the idea of someone handing me a handbag afee they got sick kind of freaks me out, although I'm sure I could train myself to handle it.

How oftentimes practice you lot take to deal with human being vomit in your task? Have you become used to it?

In my experience, information technology's pretty rare to have to deal with vomit. Maybe once every few months. And when y'all exercise choice up a pocketbook with vomit, y'all wear gloves and take a split garbage bag for them to toss their barf handbag into. If there'due south going to be bug, it's typically during landing, and so y'all can only call the cabin cleaners to have care of it. Vomit is considered a biohazard so extra precautions need to be taken when dealing with it.

Probably once every few months, but I tend to avoid sick people. At my airline, nosotros decline to have barf numberless. Instead, we tell them to dispose of information technology in the lavatory.

Honestly, information technology depends. I've had someone puke all over my galley during a flight, I've had pukers vomit neatly into barf bags, I've had babies throw upwardly all over themselves, their parents and their seats (as well as the row ahead). It depends on a lot of factors. Where are y'all coming from? Is at that place turbulence? Is the cabin hot? Have people been drinking? Are people flying sick? I could never give you a definitive reply because everyone has different experiences online. I have never had to deal with a heart assail or stroke on board. My friend had to exercise cpr on someone the first month that she was online. Information technology just depends.

For me its really rare. In my feel, people warned that they would be airsick and we prepped them with an extra airbag and Ginger Ale as a pocket-size preventative measure out. If someone completely messes up a galley with it, we close the galley off for the balance of service.

Actually, not that oftentimes.

In 10 years I have rarely dealt with vomit from passengers. Ordinarily information technology'southward on them or if a kid throws up the parents are quick to clean information technology up themselves also because there up getting new clothes for them or there kid so they become to the lav and change and cleanup in that location seat area. I think the worst I've had was on a redeye a few years back some kid got up and was airsickness from the front of the aeroplane all the way to the back, all I can say was information technology looked like a law-breaking scene, we did t have enough in our bio risk kit to cover it upwards or mask the smell so we got paper and put it downward the entire aisle until nosotros landed. Fifty-fifty the cleaners were blowback by the mess.
